This policy explains what personal data Terravist ("we", "us") collects through the Terravist mobile app and website, why we collect it, where it is stored, and what rights you have over it. It applies to customers, translators/interpreters/consultants, and visa agencies using the platform.
Primarily to provide the service you're asking for: verifying your identity, matching customers with translators/agencies, running job workflows, and keeping the platform secure. Where we don't need your consent to do this (because it's necessary to provide the account or service you requested), we rely on that necessity rather than asking for a separate opt-in. Where the law requires a separate, explicit consent — sending you SMS messages, and transferring your data outside your home country — we ask for that consent explicitly, described in our Data Transfer & SMS Consent Notice.
We send a one-time verification code by SMS to the phone number you provide, both when you create your account and whenever you sign in. This is required — the account cannot function without it — and your mobile carrier's standard messaging rates may apply.
Our servers and file storage currently run on Alibaba Cloud infrastructure in mainland China. If you are located outside China, this means your personal data is transferred to and processed in China, which may have different data protection laws than your home country. Uploaded documents and media are stored in an access-controlled, encrypted-at-rest storage bucket that is not publicly readable; all traffic to our servers is required to go through an authenticated API. We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
We keep your data while your account is active. If you deactivate your account, we stop showing your profile to others and delete or anonymize your data within a reasonable period, except where we're required to retain records for dispute resolution, audit, or legal compliance (for example, records of a completed job that was later disputed).
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, and to withdraw any consent you've given us. You can update most of your profile directly in the app; for anything else, or to request deletion, contact us using the details below.
We encrypt data in transit (HTTPS/TLS), encrypt uploaded files at rest, hash passwords rather than storing them, and rate-limit and audit-log sensitive actions (account changes, disputes, money movement). No system is perfectly secure, but we treat this as an ongoing responsibility, not a one-time checkbox.
Terravist is not intended for anyone under 18. We don't knowingly collect data from children.
If we make a material change to this policy, we'll update the "last updated" date above and, where required, ask for your consent again before the change takes effect.
